About Dayna De Hoyos

Dayna DeHoyos was born in Austin, Texas in 1979. She currently lives and works in San Antonio, Texas, where she transforms her memories into assemblage paintings and sculpture. She began to paint at the age of 8. In 1998 she began her formal training in art. She attended San Antonio College from 1998-2001, where she received several art scholarships, from there she attended the University of Texas in San Antonio and received a BFA in Painting. During her education and training she studied under Eduardo Rodriguez, Mark Pritchett, and Joey Fauerso. After college DeHoyos opened a small independent gallery called Stella Haus Art Space in memoriam of her late grandmother Estella DeHoyos. Here she shows emerging talent with an emphasis on the contemporary. DeHoyos began painting professionally while in college. Beginning in 1999 she started exhibiting at IV Design, a progressive independent art gallery. From 2001-2002 she was an artist assistant to Leonardo Drew. In 2007 she studied under and Alberto Mijangos. She briefly taught drawing and painting at Salon Mijangos art school. She is an active artist board member of the Blue Star Contemporary Art Center. Dayna DeHoyos is in the private collections of Estee Lauder, Barry Manalow, and Alexa Person. Publications that have featured this artist include: 210SA, The San Antonio Express News, The Current, and Art Lies.
